Pros

There are decent benefits for full-time employees, and you get a good discount. It's a casual environment, so you can wear whatever you want.

Cons

Journeys nurtures a toxic sales environment that is detrimental to good customer service. These are commissioned sales, so returns and exchanges are often avoided using questionable policies or procedures to prevent affecting individual sales numbers. Large sales are fought over. Prescribed behaviors to improve sales figures are ineffective at best. Best practice relies on luck of the draw.

Hard work for low pay

Pros

Journeys is a very laid back company, and they give you 40% off everything in the store. The customers are great, and you're able to form a strong relationship to create repeat customers. The other management employees in my district are super helpful and friendly.

Cons

The pay at journeys for management is all commission based, with a very low base pay, so if it's not busy you can make all of your sales goals but still make minimum wage. The hours are long and exhausting, with only 1 day off a week. If you're lucky enough to have a 3rd keyholder you won't have to work an open-close, but otherwise you'll be working at least one 12 hour shift, and payroll is so low that you'll most likely be alone.
