I don't even know where to begin with what needs to be fixed about this company. I have worked for some awful places before, but never in my life have I been given a management title and a smaller salary than someone who flips burgers or works as a cashier. As a manager, you are expected to work 45+ hours a week and a minimum of 9 hours a day, for a "base" salary of anywhere from $150-300 a week. This is considered 20% of your total salary, the other 80% coming from a 4% commission of everything you sell. Except, you cannot rely on anything BUT your base salary because traffic can be fickle and dependent on the time of year. So, the number you are given of what your "yearly salary" is isn't what your check will look like in all actuality. On top of this, you'll either be working 6 days a week or 5 with one double shift, to allow the other manager the day off. There is a lot of busy work that needs to get done as well (product is constantly entering or exiting the store at a large volume), which will leave you, at best, run ragged. I'm pretty sure my knee is messed up at this point from the amount of running around and non stop movement required of me. There aren't even fatigue mats behind the registers to provide even the most minimal relief. Product is on shelves at least 15-20 feet high, and you are required to climb ladders that are precariously leaned against boxes. I'm surprised no one has tried to sue yet over an injury.
I was yelled at and spoken down to constantly for making mistakes MY FIRST WEEK. Training is not bombarding someone with information for two days and then leaving them to their own devices. There is no proper training guideline in place, just policies and procedures that need to be ingrained in you and if you mess up, you get written up. And, as I have learned from previous reviewers, they don't go away either.
A big thing in this company is "proving yourself". This goes from promotions all the way down to any sort of benefits. Don't expect vacation time or sick pay for your first year...you have to prove yourself first. It's absolutely absurd what is expected of employees.
