Low morale within the organization

Pros

The company benefits are great - from great healthcare coverage and incentives to summer Fridays starting in March and jeans every day, the benefits are hard to beat. Traditional brand marketers have a set career growth plan, but other roles really have to advocate for change. Salaries are fair and high for the area.

Cons

Morale is extremely low. New senior leaders say they want to get to the bottom of it (via the Global Opinion Survey) but bigger changes are needed as good, smart people are leaving in droves. Workloads have been increased with no increase in headcount, leaving people overworked and frustrated. In the ZBB world, travel is reduced greatly with $150 hotel rate maximums even in cities like NYC or Chicago. No cell phones are provided and stipends have been reduced to a handful of employees. Many managers are poor leaders and even with negative reviews, they continue to manage and drive their people away. Onboarding is very poor and people are often thrown into roles with little/no experience. The HQ location is in the middle of a run down, low-income city with nothing to offer outside of the walls. Executives don’t even live in the state - including the CEO. Employees are told that flexible work arrangements are encouraged but it’s difficult for people to actually get approval for it on a regular basis.

Pros

They pay well, but they are working on that.

Cons

Kellogg has to be one of the biggest disappointments of my career, they claim to care about their employees but they do not. The once famous K Values culture is being replaced with the 3G management philosophy. Make everything as inexpensive as possible. Their current attitude was reflected in the latest RQT layoff. All but one was over 50, several were over 60. Of the group, at least one had cancer, one was out on medical leave and two were hearing impaired. Their diversity program is focused on racial quotas, not about true diversity.

Pros

Kelloggs looks good on a resume. You also get to work on exciting brands. Other than that get ready to work for some of the biggest micromanager you will ever meet in your career.

Cons

Horrible culture. Middle managers have no idea on how to be servant leaders and the director did nothing to help with his manager's issues. I started my career there and now work for another CPG and have been extremely successful. Kelloggs doesn't know how to foster talent. I was the 20th person to leave my sales office that year. I have had other Kellogg employees complain recently about the same management and culture problems so it hasn't gotten any better. The funny thing about Kelloggs is I have more responsibility at a bigger company and I work a lot less. Kelloggs is all about working long hours for no reason.
