Pros

Koalafi is a great place to work. We have extremely thoughtful and dedicated leadership who are very open to feedback and truly care about their people. The pay & benefits are good, the offices are beautiful, and we generally have the tools & technology we need to get our work done. A lot of my coworkers are incredibly smart and hardworking. Culture does seem to vary from team to team and my particular LT member is an excellent manager, an expert in their domain, and a caring person.

Cons

We had to do a major layoff last year and our culture is still recovering from that. It feels bratty to say but I do miss the free lunches, swag, gym reimbursement and other perks we had last year - but understand these things were cut in an attempt to not have to cut staff. I hope they come back!

Pros

Having worked at larger companies, Koalafi has been the right mix of structure and freedom to allow me to do my job effectively. In general there is support to produce change and try new things, but still overall structure for some of the larger things. Again due to the smaller nature of the company, it’s easier to see how the work we do can have a direct impact on the business and take a look at what doesn’t matter. Overall benefits are pretty good for the size and it feels like there’s an active evaluation of all things across the company vs getting by with “how it’s always been done”. Leadership team is approachable and always willing to listen to ideas.

Cons

Because of the small size, things are definitely felt more overall, especially if/when priorities change without much notice. Overall, there is leadership which supports an inclusive environment and discussion, though it often feels like the company is wary of taking a stronger stance due to clients, customers and other perceived impact. Which given the smaller size I can understand. Career growth paths are somewhat cloudy, but it is being actively worked on/improved

Thank you for your comprehensive and thoughtful review of working at Koalafi! Very much appreciate that you feel/see the "this is how it has always been done" is NOT part of our culture. We are focused on soliciting feedback, listening and taking action. As you mention, we are working on providing clarity around career paths throughout our organization and look forward to continuing to work with leaders/teammates to continue to grow our career and professional development offerings. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Pros

- Leadership is excellent and truly cares about employees and their needs. They go out of their way to ensure that people are not only treated well and taken care of professionally, but also are very focused and accommodating towards helping people take care of their personal lives as well. - Very positive culture. People seem to be truly collaborative in nature and interested in both performing at a high level as well as helping teammates to do the same. - Growth Opportunities. Leadership have done a great job of making sure that people understand the growth path within their chosen department. They also provide lots of opportunities to interact with and be exposed to other departments. - Open to Feedback. Leadership is very open to feedback and value people speaking up and giving input, regardless of position. - Pay is solid. Compensation plans are fair and competitive. I've done sales for other fintech companies where comp was not necessarily driven off performance. At Koalafi, it's a true meritocracy when it comes to comp. The environment is very competitive (in a healthy way) and performance is highly valued. - Challenging Work. This is not a place where you can get complacent and repetitive with your work. It's fast-paced, and always growing/evolving, so you have to be sharp and on top of your game. - Time Off. You get plenty of PTO, and the leadership is great about approving requests and accommodating last minute needs and other special circumstances.

Cons

It's a relatively young company, so, there are lots of changes and growing pains. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does take a lot of adaptability. Inside Sales Specific: There are no residuals, so comp-wise, you are starting at 0 every month. You have a pipeline, so you can still set yourself up for future success, but once you hit the pay milestones with a given account, it's gone. The comp is good and there's plenty of opportunity but it is a never-ending grind. This isn't the worst thing in the world, but because you don't have the safety net of residuals, you have to really be strategic about taking time off.

Thank you for this powerful feedback. We are always happy to hear feedback about what is working well and what we can improve upon. We take communication, support, fairness and overall culture seriously. Glad your review reinforces that we are doing reasonably well on these dimensions. As you mention, we do experience a fair amount of change. While we do believe that thoughtfully considered change leads to better outcomes, we appreciate the reminder that how we manage change is very important to the business and our employees. Really appreciate the specific comments about inside sales compensation. We will absolutely give consideration to finding a balance between short term compensation and a notion of residuals as a way to find a balance that leads to retention of our top performers. Please continue to share your feedback - it is appreciated! Thank you, Paul Gilman EVP Sales
