Pros

It is a great place to learn. Having worked with many specialty retailers in the US and the best in Europe I have to say it is a well run organization with top people in management. No company I have seen has a stronger, harder working group of management throughout the organization. That said it is tough and can even be brutal. Fashion and retail are known for this but this place is rougher than most. You will not find a better place to learn how it is done well.

Cons

It is a tough, dog eat dog environment. Long-term lower and middle management has sabotaged more than one member of senior management in the divisions. A bit of a sycophancy atmosphere at the top. There is no sentimentality and little loyalty by the company to management, but you will be rapidly rewarded if you excel and rejected if you fail. For most high performers it will be a good two or three stressful years and if you can take it you will be the better for it.

Pros

Company moves very quickly when it chooses to.

Cons

No work-life balance, no communication, completely lack of decision-making, strategy and transparency.

Pros

1) The associate discount- 40% all of the company's brands. 2) Very bright associates- like getting an MBA working here.

Cons

1) Work/Life balance was all talk when recruited and not a reality once hired. 2) Few insiders get promoted- sr mgt (hired from the outside) tend to bring in people they are familiar with from past companys rather then promoting from within. Outside hires are usually talented, however, the current qualified associates don't get promoted for their hard work and the company has to overpay addl $ for outsiders. 3) Numerous egos and Alpha dogs to navigate. Need thick skin to survive and succeed. 4) Botched the reorganization Jul 07- cut with a chainsaw to save $100M annually and lost many of the best and brightest mgrs/directors/VPs. Those associates that remain are overburdened and now the company is hemmoraging talent because too much work and not enough associates.
