Cool product but would not recommend working here
Pros
The product was very interesting and fun to work on. Worked with several people that were very talented and a joy to work with.
Cons
Unfortunately, for me there were more cons than pros - Worked with several people that I would characterize as being the opposite of "a joy to work with". Many of them held high-ranking positions within the tech organization. Personally witnessed very unprofessional comments being made in tech organization-wide meetings, multiple times, with no indication that the individuals responsible ever received any appropriate correction from the CTO. - Tech teams underwent a "re-org". Did not take the opinions of senior developers into account when deciding what new teams should be and killed team cohesion. In my opinion, the new teams were less effective than the old ones. - Noticed multiple "false starts", where the product org would roll out a half-baked feature request, developers would start working on it, and then the project would either be cancelled or the feature would be unused upon delivery. - Lots of talk about wanting to address tech debt, but huge resistance if someone came up with a concrete plan to tackle it. - Encountered toxic politics, with leadership attempting to sabotage others to advance their own agendas. - Mandated employees to spend specific days each week in the office (despite same employees being productive for months when working from home due to Covid). An especially annoying aspect of this was that the Sunset HQ had insufficient parking, so if you came in "on time" then good luck finding a spot close to the building.
