Less demanding than the private sector. Good people who are passionate about helping others. Dedicated PA and clinic to county employees.

Cons

Poor benefits, especially vacation, for 5 years (until vested) Change adverse: it takes a lot to make changes. Slow pace. Depending on what area, things take a long time to move, and it can frustrate top performers. No incentives to perform! They pay about 2% cost of living increase only, regardless of your performance.
