Pros

Lots of work. They are laways calling to get people into work. Lots of call ins

Cons

Lowest pay rates in South Florida. I honestly feel that if they raised the hourly salaries for Nurses and CNA's, lab tech, dietary and housekeeping they would have a happier stafft

Pros

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my staff, colleagues, and on-site management. Very collegial atmosphere among my peers, who have been very supportive and motivated to help care for patients.

Cons

Retention for staff and providers is terrible. Burnout is rampant, we are chronically understaffed, and the best people are overworked to the point of exhaustion. Upper management appears completely uninterested in addressing their systemic issues to improve retention. Policies are very one-size-fits-all, which makes it difficult to adjust for individual needs. There are not enough resources to care for our volume of patients, which forces a constant choice between personal limits and the safety/health of patients. Wait times for appointments are horrible. Daily moral injury from working in a system designed to prioritize profits over patient safety despite lip service suggesting otherwise and being a nonprofit with a duty to the community. If you don’t know somebody in a position of power who can pull strings for you, it is not safe to be a patient here.

Pros

The ONLY item......5% match to 403B.

Cons

Management, CEO, PTO, No bonus, no care for employees and "life" situations ie. death, illness. They treat you like you are expendable; they have a very strict, no nonsense, black or white type of mentality. Since they are a monopoly, you put up and shut up....for the sake of your family. It's all glitz and show. In the next few years I see patient care plummeting because all the good physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and employees are leaving due to how they are treated.

Lee Health Response

Hello, and thank you for your candid review. Your feedback is very concerning. The Lee Health philosophy is to err on the side of the staff member. Our policy and procedures are there as a guideline. The leaders have the ability to make decisions on a case by case basis to determine extenuating circumstances. As a healthcare employer, open 24/7, 365 days of the year, the organization must provide adequate staffing for our patients. That may seem black and white, however, this business requires serious consideration of our attendance policies. We do have bereavement leave in the event of a death in the family which includes three days of paid leave. Staff may request more time off using their PTO and the managers will grant it if at all possible. Monopoly? There are other healthcare providers within driving distance, but are you aware that we are able to provide an exceptional benefits package because we are such a large employer? We encourage you to consider the "total rewards" Lee Health offers. For example, where one employer might offer a couple more days of PTO, we offer health insurance premiums that are substantially below market by 17 to 34%. Lee Health's primary focus is on quality and safety and we are using the lean methodology to become more efficient, while improving our quality and safety statistics. Are we 'there' yet? No, that's why our mission is to continually improve our processes. Like other healthcare employers, some staff do leave the organization...and a significant percentage of those who leave return to Lee Health after they've worked elsewhere. Our overall vacancy rate (number of positions that are not filled) is substantially lower than competitors at 3.12% as of May 2018. Did you know that Lee Health Ranks in Top 6% of America’s 500 Best Employers by Forbes? This is based on Forbes survey feedback from randomly selected employees. Again, we do appreciate your feedback and take this into account in leadership development and accountability standards (via employee satisfaction surveys). We hope you take the opportunity to meet with your leader(s) and/or employee relations and share your concerns.
