Abysmal senior leadership and founders. The common sentiment from anybody who has been here long enough is that the c-level executives are bright and well educated, but they have no understanding on how to lead a company. They will hold town-hall meetings, patting themselves on the back for all the innovations they've come up with, how great everything is going, and how we should all be so proud. However there is no forum for discourse. There is no transparency on how the company is performing. Any questions being asked about the company's performance will promptly be shut down.
There have been quite a few layoffs lately, and they aren't even acknowledged. I found out about our key contributers being laid off a week earlier, mentioned only in passing in a sprint planning meeting. my reaction to that is celebration and joy. I'm genuinely happy for the people who get to leave without having to quit, though there is no shame in quitting this organization. In my many years of experience in tech companies, I've never experienced a place as poorly managed as this place.
A word of caution to those thinking about joining this organization: You will be overwhelmed, you will likely work on many projects that get scrapped for the next quick demo. That's all that seems to get completed...demos.
A few common patterns I've noticed in my years here:
Employees who actually take their PTO are usually the ones who get laid off.
Employees who raise concerns to the C-Suite also have a habit of getting laid off.
Reviews, be they product reviews or employee reviews on this platform, are highly incentvized and rewarded, as long as they're positive of course.
It pains me to write all this, because I work with really great people. but management lacks integrity, coordination and empathy for the employees who keep this place floating.
