See above: the benefits. Premiums are low and benefits are high. Choice of either BCBS or Capital Health Plan, plus dental, vision and life insurance for full time employees. You'll also contribute to the Florida Retirement Plan. This is a good job for folks who need a steady (if not sky high) paycheck and dependable benefits. GREAT HR department and inclusive diversity policy that's heavily emphasized and explicitly protects sexual orientation and gender identity. Oh, and generous parental leave for parents regardless of gender or birth/adoption.
Cons
The pay is low, and as an administrative associate there's no advancement track. Work environment will depend entirely on which department you're in. Some are great, some not so much. Also, a lot of it is boring, rote work. Your basic bureaucratic job.
People and work within this unit are great, highest morale in all of the County exists right here, our director is genuine and has strong family-based atmosphere, there's exceptional benefits package with quality insurance at low cost, it's State retirement eligible job, and moonlighting is not only permitted but openly encouraged!
Cons
Top management of County does not know my name and could care less about me as a person, pay rates never change here and do not keep pace with the construction market, there's absolutely no opportunities for me to advance, and evaluations are not done fairly: my scores are overruled and fit to a curve by upper management, it's also rumored that the Manager wants to privatize our jobs!
