Leadership in a free fall. Company might soon follow.

Pros

The company holiday gifts and "swag" are generally pretty nice. That's genuinely about it as of late.

Cons

Where to begin. The company has undergone a staggering leadership collapse in a short period of time, with multiple large layoffs in the last 2 years. The downward trend started with an interim CEO, installed by the Board, someone barely present, clearly a placeholder, who nonetheless used his brief tenure to mandate a 3-day RTO policy for any employee within 25 miles of a Lytx office. This came after five years of fully remote work that, by any objective measure, was working well. Productivity was fine. Retention was fine. Morale was fine. What made it worse was the flagrant double standard. Not a single C-level executive was based in San Diego. Sales reps were quietly exempted under a policy claiming anyone traveling more than 50% of the time was not subject to the mandate. In practice, that threshold was applied loosely at best and selectively at worst, a convenient carve-out that insulated certain teams while everyone else was forced back in. Rules for thee, not for me. The permanent CEO who followed has raised the dysfunction to new heights. Existing institutional knowledge has been systematically displaced by loyalists. More striking: he has hired his own children as sales reps, something he acknowledged openly and even joked about in a company all-hands, quipping that family dinners double as pipeline review meetings (confirmed in other Glassdoor reviews). Leadership treated this as charming. Most employees did not. Compensation is another area where Lytx falls short. Base salaries are below market rate for the industry, and the bonus structure compounds the problem. The company has struggled with target bonus in several years, driven by a structure tied to multiple variables that rarely align in employees' favor. For a company that expects teams to protect and grow revenue in an increasingly competitive market, the pay does not reflect that expectation. Additionally, many of the internal tools that teams are forced to use are archaic and manual. For years, internal teams would go joke, "we're sort of building the plane while flying it". Well, it should've been built by now. The talent exodus speaks for itself. Multiple high level VPs departed voluntarily within a matter of months, along with a Director and Senior Managers. In the last 2 years, I'd estimate the company has laid off more than 160 employees. This is not a company navigating a rough patch with a plan, this is a company being hollowed out while its competitors look to pull further ahead. If you are interviewing here, ask hard questions about the leadership structure, the RTO expectations, the Geotab situation (look at other reviews if you are in Sales), the internal tools and how the company will incorporate AI, compensation benchmarks, and the stability of your specific team. The core technology has genuine market value. The people running this company right now appear to be squandering it.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and acknowledging that Lytx's technology helps protect a world in motion. We recognize that periods of change can be challenging, but like many technology companies, we have made the strategic decision to deinvest in some areas of the business while continuing to invest in others that support Lytx's long-term growth. The decision to downsize teams in deprioritized areas, even as we continue to actively invest and grow in others, was a difficult one. Once we determined it was necessary to realign our internal resources, we were transparent with employees about the decision. We transitioned as many people as possible into other positions within the company and provided a support package, extended medical coverage, and career transition support to those who were impacted, regardless of tenure. You're right, we leaned into our Hybrid Working Model last year to strengthen collaboration, innovation, connection across teams, and operational excellence. Leadership has maintained a consistent onsite presence in San Diego, including two executive leaders who are not only based in San Diego, but also work onsite. Additionally, we remain committed to continuously evolving our work model to ensure it best supports our team, culture, and overall strategy. Each year we do a compensation study to ensure that our total benefits and compensation package remain competitive for our industry.

Pros

Really great people, great culture when I first started.

Cons

Lost sight of where they wanted to focus, product was no longer competitive and they did nothing to improve, lack of ownership and accountability, management played favorites, really low pay, then all the layoffs came.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We agree, Lytx has a really great team and culture. We appreciate the feedback and recognize that, like many companies, we've gone through a significant period of change. Over the past year, we've been focused on strengthening our strategy, driving innovation, and continuing to build a culture grounded in accountability, transparency and collaboration.

Layoffs just keep coming

Pros

At this point - absolutely none. The only good thing about working here is the people you work with. Anyone director level and above is disconnected, dishonest, and only looking out for themselves.

Cons

2 rounds of layoffs since the start of 2026. On the last all-hands call, the CEO tried to gaslight us all by saying employee morale is not low and that the reviews must have been written by one person. The technical support org has been told over and over again that they would not be affected by layoffs...guess what....they just cut the team in half. Gave our team mates no notice beforehand, a measly 2 weeks severance for every year you worked at Lytx. That means for those of us who were here just under 1 year we only got 2 weeks of pay. Meanwhile they worked us to death leading up to the layoffs. Stay far far away from this company. All signs point to selling or going under. And you'll notice the majority of job postings are for roles in India. They're squeezing everything they can out of the US-based teams, laying them off, then offshoring jobs to Columbia and India. This company does not care about or value their employees and they make it well-known everyday. Just look at how they respond to their reviews on here, even the tone is condescending and cold.
