Thank you for your response. Yes, at MKS we value our employees and are proud to offer competitive benefits and opportunities for career growth and development. We continually evaluate our comprehensive benefits package to ensure we are appropriately aligned to the market. Department schedules for vacation use may vary depending on demand, however employees should always feel comfortable to discuss time off with their direct manager. We encourage this type of two-way dialogue because a healthy work-life balance is fundamental for employees. If we can assist with tips on how to start these kind of conversations, please contact us directly at MKS.Feedback@mksinst.com.

Pros

(My reviews are unique to my particular small location) Flexible, low-stress, good direct management, lots of autonomy (until corporate steps in), positive work environment/co-workers (though not very social, so if that's what you're looking for, this place isn't for you), great pay and good benefits (the employee stock plan is especially nice).

Cons

No one at our site has authority to make even relatively small decisions. Off-site mid-level management has no clear chain of command and takes inordinately long to make decisions we should have been enabled to make at the local level to begin with. Often, the decisions that are made by corporate/mid-level are not only not timely, but also have negative effects on our business (alienate vendors and customers, cost us extra money, etc. Also, I feel that corporate talks about employee engagement, but doesn't walk the walk. I feel valued at the local level but feel like corporate doesn't even know I exist, let alone care about me or my contributions. For example, we have had two forced shutdowns in less than two months during which the company required employees to use their accrued vacation. I feel there are probably better ways to boost the company balance sheets without alienating employees.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We are glad to read you have a strong local connection and work experience. That is so important. We appreciate your opinion on corporate matters and we value your contributions. Historically, we have a shutdown during the holiday season, so employees are able to take a break and spend time with their families. This quarter we did ask employees to use their accrued time off in the quarter in which they earned it. This decision was made as part of a holistic strategy that will further strengthen our organization for long-term success. Like many companies, we are operating in an environment of increased economic uncertainty. At times, we have needed to be proactive and evaluate our business needs and adjust accordingly. This has included shutdowns to align with cost-savings efforts. These are short-term solutions that will better enable our success for the long-term. If you have any additional feedback or would like to discuss these matters further, please reach out directly to MKS.Feedback@mksinst.com

Pros

Good Colleagues, Decent Pay, Management cares, generally strong experience and competence across teams.

Cons

Large corporation means some things move slowly or are difficult to change. Office was a bit dated. Older cohorts mean risk of expertise leaving upon retirement without many younger colleagues to take up the knowledge.
