Pros

I had a flexible work schedule and the ability to study what I wanted.

Cons

I was employed for additional summer terms. The paperwork was not done correctly and I was not paid until the end of the summer after jumping through many hoops. It seemed that no one really cared if I received payment or not.

Pros

IT is a good department to work in because they try to stay current on the technologies used. There is also a very nice campus just outside, and the working environment is generally pretty laid back.

Cons

IT senior management really isn't very IT savvy. It folk are generally not respected by the faculty or the senior administration of the university, so you'll spend a lot of time pulling your hair out while people from outside your field with no experience get as big as or a larger say in what you should do with technology. There is literally no room for advancement. If you want to move up, you're basically going to have to quit and come back later.
