Pros

I learned a lot while working here and it was perfect management experience.

Cons

Retail hours and as a manager I was only paid $9.00 even with my 4 year degree in Consumer Affairs. Left and got a job paying $20 an hour with my qualifications

Pros

The job pays decently for what it is. There is a good training system in place and their customer service philosophy is very strong.

Cons

While corporate wants everyone to work as a team, there are very specific stats that each person has to meet. That means that everyone is trying to essentially "beat" the other associates with sales, charge card sign-ups, etc. Associates are strongly encouraged to wear only current maurices clothing, which gets expensive. Their system for finding internal theft is flawed as well. In any given day, all associates and managers will ring sales on every cash register. This means that, if at the end of the day, a register doesn't balance, someone could be blamed that was not responsible. There is no way to track exactly who may be responsible, so corporate relies on assumptions and finger-pointing. Very unprofessional and disrespectful to those who take their careers seriously.

Lots of energy and unrealistic goals

Pros

-Good discount (40%) -High energy -Great management team -Good training program -Great learning experience but definitely not a career

Cons

-Rarely any communication with higher management -Upper management does not talk to sales associates, only managers, so they only know what the managers have to say -For part time associates, unrealistic goals are set, for example, performance is expected to be the same for a full time manager (36+ hours) and a part time associate (4+ hours), working only 4 hours a week does not give the associate time to recover from a slow day in order to bring their numbers (net sales, UPT, ADS, and credit cards) up -In some locations, the dress code states that current color story clothes from Maurices must be worn for every shift making it difficult for part time sales associates to afford to work there
