Pros

The opportunity to work among very talented professionals (RVTs Assistants, Doctors). Benefit package is decent.

Cons

Cost of services soar as your wages stay pathetically low. No effort from administration to improve their inefficiencies and poor management. They put their efforts toward an illusion of caring- don't be fooled- their empathy for employees is non-existent. The growth they aim for is purely monetary. MedVet wants to portray an image of teamwork, leadership, and compassion- but they fail miserably in each category.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We agree that we have a very talented Healthcare Team that strives to deliver the best experience to our clients, patients, and referral partners, along with a robust benefits package that we’re continuously working to enhance. As you may know, we recently completed a compensation analysis across our organization as part of our Clinical Services Career Framework. The results of the analysis helped us to ensure that our compensation remains competitive. Throughout the process, we invested significantly into our team members, as we are very aware of the importance of financial wellbeing and how it relates to the Employee Experience that we aim to deliver. This was independent of our annual performance-based increases that most of our Clinical Services team members are eligible for. In addition to getting annual pay increases four months early, ALL Clinical Services team members got an additional increase on top of that. We now have a career progression where, as you become certified (CVT or VTS), you move into more senior jobs and get pay increases. We've increased our 401(k) match and in 2019, health care costs are, on average, LESS than they were in 2017. We're always looking for ways to provide more to our team members while also remodeling hospitals, buying equipment, etc. Many of our leaders, including the Cincinnati Hospital and Medical Directors, have participated in our newly developed Leadership in Action! program. This training was facilitated to ensure that our leaders have the tools and resources that they need to be successful in supporting their teams. We are hopeful that this will continue to have a positive impact across our organization; we already have seen significant increases in our survey scores in the areas related to manager effectiveness. Dr. Linda Lehmkuhl, Chief Executive Officer, recently visited the Cincinnati hospital to discuss our vision, mission, values, and purpose, which tied in the importance of organizational growth. We are uniquely positioned as a veterinary owned and led organization, which our growth will continue to allow us to maintain. Additionally, as you know, our strategy of Healthy Growth allows us to continue reinvesting in the Employee Experience, which is the first and most important of our strategies. We are medically led and we are not owned by a big corporation or private equity firm. We are a "care first" organization. I'm sorry you didn't understand that; our leaders in Cincy would have been happy to share information with you.

Thanks so much for taking time to leave a review. As you know, we're a 24/7 organization, so when we calculate paid time off, we bundled together holidays, vacation, and sick time and let our team members choose how they want to use those days. So you do have sick days. Not everyone wants off the same holidays, and you can take paid time off on a holiday but still be on the schedule – which gives you your full holiday pay, pleasure regular wage, plus your overtime rate. Additionally, you can use up to 60 hours of any unused paid time off toward your hospital bill at the end of the year. We strive to be competitive, flexible, and fair to all of our team members and how we put PTO together. I'm not sure what your career goals are, but you should definitely talk with your manager or HR partner and they can walk you through the different ways that you can grow your career & your pay. Additionally, in the past few years we have increased our 401(k) match and in 2019, health care costs are, on average, LESS than they were in 2017. We're always looking for ways to provide more to our team members while also remodeling hospitals, buying equipment, etc. I know that Columbus recently has gone through significant remodels, which has given the team a lot more space and made the ER/internal medicine waiting room far less crowded. I would encourage you to reach out to your manager or HR partner since it sounds like you may not have a good understanding of our benefits & opportunities to grow. Thanks!

Pros

-Depending on your role/manager there is an abundance of work/life balance (WFH when needed, rarity to have long hours, lots of colleague support) -The company truly does have a long-term vision which creates a lot of job security/stability. - Everyone is focused on the mission, no matter what your position is. So that makes for a really collaborative and supportive environment.

Cons

The cost of insurance is a little high

Thanks so much for your note. I'm glad things are off to a good start for you. Just a comment on health insurance – MedVet is self-insured, which means we actually pay for all of our team member claims by ourselves and our carrier (UHC) just processes things for us. On average, our premiums are lower than they were in 2017, before we were self-insured. A lot of our team members participate in a high deductible health care plan, which can be a really good approach, especially if you are relatively young and healthy. But it can be complicated, so feel free to reach out to Health Advocate if you have questions (you can link to that resource on SPOT).
