Pros

Company continues to aggressively grow. Bonuses paid out quarterly, including a Christmas bonus. Salary range was above average in the job market. Old building had a subsidized cafeteria, on-site fitness center, and coffee station. They don't seem to fire people and have a lot of long tenured people.

Cons

You work in a silo there--have to keep a very narrow focus for your work. There is a moving target when it comes to your bonus/goals, and those changes are not always communicated in a proper manner. Promotion/status appears to be more about who you know, not what you know or have accomplished. A lot of VPs that were promoted obviously were very successful at their previous jobs but do not seem to have the competency/skillset for higher-level roles. The culture is more fear based than allowing new ideas. A lot of "lifers" there but lack of opportunity to advance within. When it was announced that the HQ was moving from Mundelein to Northfield, there was a severe lack of communication and tranparency about when the move would be happening for specific departments--you would never get a straight answer. There is no internal growth/development plan in place, you basically have to wait for a departmental opening and hope that you are considered. The organization did not embrace the ability to work mobile/at home, especially considering some jobs aren't necessary to be in the office all the time. It's a boys club for sure and all about who is the best of friends with the owners' family. When I left my job in 2016, I attempted to apply for a promotion but was completely neglected once my application got to HR. I received an offer from another company for less money and left Medline. I told my boss that they could double my salary and I would still leave--I was that upset that I was left out in the dark about it. Please don't let your employees down--this was worse than telling me that my bonus would be lower than expected.

Pros

Easy Work, Good or alright benefits.

Cons

Company won't hire middle-aged people for Afraid they are gonna hurt their back and Comp -out on you! My friend had applied for the Warehouse Operator Shipping 2nd shift-OPE0101DQ position in Canton' OH. Based on the job description, He was actually over-qualified for the position! So I figured that he would be a Good Hire! 3 hours after applying, they turned him down saying that they have done Extensive Background checking and have looked over his credentials and and unfortunately we will not be pursuing his candidacy for this role at this time..... 3 hours huh? Background check in 3 hours, huh? OK!! Mind you....he has had 3 jobs in 30 years! Never Been Disciplined at all!! Never been in trouble with the Law!!! BUT he's 46 years old.........Total Age Discrimination!!!!!

Pros

- The people for the most part are great to work with - Depending on the role, but even at the Associate level, Product Managers are given lots of responsibility early on in their careers

Cons

- P/E is fully engrossed in the company now. - Ironic they just renovated a sales training center when they just laid off their inside sales reps - Have always been a pay lacker, but it will continue to get worse. They make you think the grass is not greener on the other side, but 99.9% of my old coworkers that have left voluntarily or got fired or were in the process of getting PIP’d in the past few years all got paid more elsewhere. I get paid 40% more, and am nowhere near as overworked as my time as an Associate which is a joke. - When the company has to keep restructuring sales’ pay structures and severely underpay product managers relative to the revenue they generate, you’re on borrowed time as a company. Get your couple years of good experience early in your career and take your skills elsewhere. Other companies in healthcare are well aware how much Medline employees are overworked. - For such a big company, the lack of efficiency and support structures is astounding. Leadership isn’t as open to investing in those either because of the economy and needing to protect P/E’s bottom line at all costs
