Pros

If you are looking for a career in High-Tech sales memoryBlue is the absolute best place you can start. Most employees (myself included) come in with little to no experience in sales or the high tech world. Most sales development rep’s (SDR’s) go from having no skills or experience to being highly desirable candidates. They only ask that you work hard and show a desire to learn and improve. In addition to offering a place for people to learn sales skills and grow, mB is a young and fun work environment filled with networking opportunities. Not only did I have a great time going to company events, and create lasting friendships, I have already used my mB network to generate sales opportunities at my new employer. memoryBlue is place where everyone is rooting for your success and anyone is willing to help you improve your skills or give you advice. Many reviews on this site make the point that some clients are harder than others which is true. Some clients are easier than others but if you show that you are working hard and going above and beyond in order to succeed you will be supported by the mB team. They understand this is the case and even if you don’t love your client you still leave with incredibly valuable experience. The experience and opportunity afforded to you has a memoryBlue employee vastly outweighs this minor downside. If you are interested in starting a career in high tech sales mB is the place to be without question. Even the negative reviews on this site recognize that it helped them get a great next job. If you are worried that it might be hard, it most likely will be. Working in sales is not easy and if you’re interested in sales because you want an easy job you should reconsider. With that said, I love working in tech sales and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I have memoryBlue to thank for that. As with any position in sales, you will have good days and bad days, you will have good weeks and bad weeks. You’ll agree with some choices made by management and disagree with others. When I speak to other mB alumni we all agree that given the opportunity to go back in time, we would all choose to work for mB again. If you are thinking about making this jump I highly recommend you go for it.

Cons

As I stated earlier, it is true that some clients are easier than others. It is also that case that some people have one full time client and others have two part time clients. It is easier to have one full time client. memoryBlue could probably do a better job of setting quota’s accordingly.

Pros

Good intro to the tech world. Donuts on Thursday, I guess?

Cons

Before I say anything too negative, I must say that memoryBlue helped me get my next job. There, I said it. Other than that, mB is a very corrupt and poorly-managed company. Managers would come to work clearly hungover, the CEOs were never seen, and coworkers were able to basically run freely. But then again, there is a micromanagement in place because of how the metrics are so closely tracked. So feel free to mess around ... But not too much.

Pros

Access to a lot of high tech companies with the potential to get an offer from one as an SDR

Cons

Training is lacking- it is not the "intensive training" described in their job posting. Not enough resources for each SDR to succeed at their job. Most have to be shared, and you only get an hour a day for each, due to lack of budget.

Thank you for posting your open and honest feedback. Our extensive experience in professional inside sales tells us that the overwhelming majority of early-career sales roles across the country provide almost no sales-specific training for new hires. Many of these companies instead try to get a new sales rep simply “up to speed” on their products and services as fast as possible before turning them loose on their work with little regard to their sales skills – it’s simply sink or swim. We stand behind our methodologies and processes, which incorporate a strong mix of one-on-one coaching, instructor-led online classroom work and self-paced audio courses. When you blend these strategies with all of the other avenues our reps have to improve their sales skills (in-house mentorship programs, regular new hire huddles and small group workshops), we believe we’ve got something an engaged professional can seriously learn from. The fact that all of these training avenues happen in parallel with real sales work is also by design – the “fire” can provide powerful lessons, too – but only when it’s experienced in conjunction with ongoing training. This is the large gap between our methods and those of the companies referenced above. We’ll certainly continue to ensure there is no ambiguity between our approach to inside sales and what our clients know and expect. It’s something we’re proud of and a point of emphasis up front in our own sales process. We’re different and we’ve found it to be highly effective for everyone involved.
