Pros

-nice office view -ability to be promoted quickly but only if you put in long hours and you're a top performer -decent salary

Cons

-terrible management -very churn and burn -if you don't hit your numbers, you're out with no warning -very political environment and very big egos -a ton of attrition and boiler room type setting -not much work/life balance -lack of respect from upper management -misogynistic and prejudiced environment

I assure you we have a strict code of conduct at PageGroup and a zero tolerance policy for unethical behavior. Furthermore, we promote and enforce an environment where everyone is treated equally and respectfully. We invest heavily in our employees by providing them the tools and the training to excel, and we understand that our success as a company relies on the success of the people who comprise it. I speak on behalf of the whole management team when I say we are transparent about existing as a performance-based culture. Much like how any traditional sales organization works, we set clear targets and expect our people to reach these targets. The truth of the matter is the recruitment industry may be too demanding for those who are unable to handle the pressures of a sales environment. Thank you. Richard Vickers, Regional Managing Director.

It doesn't have to be this way!

Pros

Great trips and bonuses for top performers (only), eye candy for both genders, you get to work in the Chrysler Building, extensive training program.

Cons

The CRM/ATS is pretty much the worst. Turnover is atrocious. Terrible hours (8am - 7pm, but really more like 7:30am - 7:30pm if you know what's good for you). Don't expect to have lunch away from your desk unless you're taking a client out. They really let you know what you're worth (how much you cost the business). Yes, it's a sales culture - but the micromanaging has to stop. If you're firing so many people in their first year anyway, might as well focus on retaining anyone with more experience first.

Pros

- good PTO - people are fun - sales training can be very good depending on your trainer

Cons

Michael Page as an Employer: COMMUNICATION is the biggest issue. There are 3 tiers to the hierarchy in every office: consultants, managers, upper management. Managers communicate one thing to their team, which is entirely different from what they tell upper management. When they get yelled at for not having as many interviews as the week before, they claim to shelter their teams from this, yet they continue to kick the cat themselves. This stems from the lack of managerial development in all consultants as promotions are based on $$ billed and not business acumen. If you're a good biller, congrats--you're now managing a team of 3+ people. There's a lack leadership and integrity across all managers in the Houston office. Every manager there has lied: so many stories of stealing revenue from one of their own consultants or lying about why a team member left the company or faking their KPIs. The faking of KPIs is disgusting and should not be tolerated in any business. My manager did this and still works there. If that floats your boat, then cool. If you have integrity, then look for another job. Bonuses are quarterly and not based off each placement, so get comfortable with the base pay as not many people bonus in that offie as you are told in your interview process.

Be it top-down, bottom-up or lateral, the style of communication at PageGroup is both clear and direct. While the tone of communication is tailored according to the audience, this should not be misconstrued as mixed messaging. Our management team is comprised of a deserving group of top performers who have demonstrated high levels of performance, leadership skills and ethics and we have a structured management development training program for all individuals as their careers progress to and beyond managerial level. PageGroup do not tolerate disingenuous behavior of any kind, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards in a Houston business that has more than doubled in revenue, profit and headcount in the last year. Lastly, we understand the significance of rewarding based on performance; therefore we have instilled a bonus structure that is a proven and effective method of compensation for those that deliver. We do understand that our high growth/high expectation environment is not suited to everybody, but we feel confident in the trajectory of our business and our meritocratic promotion model. Craig Thompson, Managing Director, Houston.
