No merit raises unless you are top tier. Very political and faculty acts like a bunch of mean spoiled brats. Depends on who you are on what you can get away with. Once you reach a certain level you can discriminate and sexually harass without any punishment.

Culturally and intellectually, Springfield is something of a backwater. (Try reading the local paper and watching the local news for a week.) I and many other faculty became increasingly frustrated with student apathy and limited learning over the last 10 years, but concerns along these lines expressed to the administration fell on deaf ears. As long as enrollments are high, the administration sees no reason to strive to transform the academic culture.
