Plenty of pros, with some significant cons
Pros
Mitchell International has some decidedly positive attributes. They've gotten rid of the 'business casual' dress code they began enforcing in the fall of 2010, so as long as you're not in a customer facing division, you'll be able to wear jeans for now (if this is important to you, be warned that Mitchell has gone back & forth on dress code over their history). Lower level employees (like a software engineer 1) are typically hourly, so you'll get additional pay if they work you additional hours. They will reimburse you for at least some continuing education tuition (UCSD Extension courses are the norm), provided you meet some minimum grade requirement. There is a huge company-wide push to agile development, but they're struggling with it. Still, it's great to see them moving in that direction at such a significant level. There is a small gym, and they bring in trainers from the YMCA to lead a few different types of fitness classes during lunch, morning, and after-work hours. Finally, and I have saved the best for last, a lot of the developers I've met here are great people, with whom I absolutely love to work.
Cons
You start with only 2 weeks of vacation, and you do not get anything more until you've been there for 5 years (at which point you get a 3rd week). You'll see vast sums of money invested in image and branding, but if you're expecting up to date, high-quality hardware to work on, you can forget it (also, pretty much NO developers get laptops). Managers have a history of being less than honest with their employees, so you can't trust what you're told directly, and I've sadly learned that you can not believe any promises made by a manager until it is visibly delivered upon.
