the worse at MobileCause. Communications from leadership about company strategy, direction, competitive landscape, recent wins and customer success stories, that used to happen on a weekly basis, have stopped completely. The sales staff have no idea what is going on at the company they work for.
Inbound leads have been in decline for six months. Marketing is not targeted to well suited organizations. Most of the declining quantity of the leads that do come in are returning, recently disqualified contacts. Product demos are in decline. Sales funnels are drying up.
Mid-level sales management have never done the job. Never booked an appointment, done a product demo or closed a piece of business with a non-profit. They have no decision-making authority and have nothing to do except push things up the chain of command. They micro manage KPIs like call counts and talk time and demand multiple daily sales forecast updates to fill up time. There is no coaching/mentoring and no training. Just constant questions about what is closing today
Sales reps are often asked to offer to discount agreed on deals to bring them in early to help the manager and the company hit a monthly number. Leadership don’t care how this will reduce the individual’s commission check.
Leadership at all levels play favorites. Rules of engagement on leads and opportunities are not applied equally. Favorites get special treatment. Inbound leads, opportunities and calls are not shared equally in the sales team.
No Pay raises. No 401k match. No holiday party. No promotions from inside the company. You are just a cog in the machine.
