Pros

The senior leadership of the company has strong work ethic values and tries to foster an environment of collaboration and team work. It's great the company is private and family-owned.

Cons

If you do not work in operations, you are practically invisible to your group leaders. It is difficult to prove your worth if you are not on a project site or directly signing contracts.

Pros

Mortenson literally strives to be a "far superior" builder compared to the competition. So, the company will do everything it needs to accomplish this. 50+ year track record of amazing, successful projects. Amazing C-level leadership. Lots of opportunities to grow. You'll work on some of the most amazing, high profile projects in the country. Great benefits, profit sharing, and health plan.

Cons

Because Mortenson strives to be the best, a lot will be required of you. Projects are always expected to be done early and under budget, no matter what which may include working long hours, moving around the country, or working weekends. Don't expect to work 40 hours a week in the filed. This isn't necessarily a con, but it can be challenging if you have a family and want a more traditional, 8-5 job.

Pros

Great PTO Opportunities to travel and make a boat load of cash Interesting projects but rigid on the type of work that they go after

Cons

Mediocre health care coverage. Company vehicle doesn't include a gas card Lots of rigid and useless standard operating procedures Archaic financial reporting system that looks like its straight out of the 1970's era Men (especially white men..) get the short end of the stick here - lots of promoting of women in construction even though some are hardly qualified So many required meetings and paperwork to fill out you probably lose 2 hours per day in productivity and they wonder why they can't make money on projects? Estimates are consistently incorrect - lots of big money losing project Lots of deadwood type employees who don't contribute to the bottom line yet they continue to keep them around The operating group as a whole is in severe jeopardy of closing the doors
