Pros

They offer benefits such as medical and dental. They offer trips for upper management and corporate positions. After working there, you will be able to handle any stress with any other company.

Cons

Required to work 50 hours a week but will often work 60-80 hours per week. Corporate seems to have no idea of the things that go on at the store level. Anything that goes wrong will be your responsibility to fix, from toilets, to pump pipes, to changing fuel filters, to changing the electrical hardware inside the pumps. There will not be enough time in a day to complete all the numerous tasks that are required, take customers, and take care of all the issues that arise throughout the day. After increasing sales and customer ratings higher than the company average, I was fired for an irresponsible employee's mistake that occurred while I was on vacation. After taking up for that new employee, I was fired without hesitation. They fired a manager that was with the company for many years because they couldn't find a shortage for the month, who had just bought his first house for his wife and 3 kids. About a month later, they found the shortage which was an error on corporate's end but also made no efforts to contact or rehire that manager.

How is this a Fortune 500 company?

Pros

At the surface it seems like a great place to work. Beautiful office, adorable small town, employees are on a day to day level treated well lots of superficial stuff like treats and mini contests. Half day Fridays. The company gives a ton to the community.

Cons

The culture is toxic in multiple places. It is not a continuous improvement process culture, there are continuous fires to be put out all the time. Basic multiple core groups are wild disasters. Executives leave regularity. There is no strategy department. The company literally has no plans for the future. Recruiters and hiring leaders will make great promises and they strongly push to bring in great talent and then fail to listen to what they have hired people to do. If you are approached by this organization ask to see the employe engagement results from 2017 and ask to see their turnover rate.

Out of touch executives and incompetent middle management

Pros

You get to have an impact on a large business as a junior employee. The pay is decent - if not always reasonably distributed. Immediate coworkers are generally good people. Small town El Dorado is fantastic. Medical benefits are top notch.

Cons

Middle management is grossly incompetent. You will be surprised the company even functions. Executive management spends more time patting themselves on the back than making high-impact decisions. Risk is feared rather than managed.
