Pros

Good work/life balance, easy/nonchallenging work and very flexible with work schedule

Cons

Pretty confident that any review that says “no cons”, “keep up the good work” or “people first” are all fake and written by upper management/HR. Use common sense, how can there be no complaints at all, especially from a low tier C- brokerage firm. Witnessed a lot of unprofessional behavior and the “boys club” mentality that other reviews mention. If this company was public, it would be eaten alive.

Pros

The other account managers and the mailroom staff made this role tolerable. Also, the cleaning lady was very friendly and always made it a point to say hello. The benefits weren't bad, but weren't great. (but that's typical nowadays)

Cons

This was THE worst job I have had in my professional career. They were short-staffed when I was hired and the training was pretty much a joke. The person I reported to in mid-market accounts (would not call them a manager) knew training was an issue and stated a few times they knew it was needed but did not have the time. It only made matters worse. One of the Account Executives I worked with was a control freak and I was warned of their behavior ealry on. When emails needed to be sent to their clients, they typed them up in advance and sent them to me to be sent to the client. They also did this for other people in the company as well. The person I reported to was so condescending - I have never been spoken down to the way they spoke to me; they should be ashamed of themselves. NFP in NYC is very cliquey, including upper management. And it is sad because there are a lot of smart, mature, articulate people that work there. Sadly, their efforts go unnoticed. Speaking of upper management, several VP's walked by my desk several times a day. One would think they would speak or at the very least, show a smile - even if it's fake. Yes, they are busy but no one starts at the top and they seem to have forgotten that. The HR staff for the most part was always supportive and helpful, except for one of the recruiters who often share and laughed at potential candidate profiles with other employees. Not very professional. Parting ways with NFP was best for me. I gave upper management one star because I had to give something. If you are looking for an account management role, save yourself and your time and apply somewhere else.

Pros

I loved a lot of the people with whom I worked.

Cons

Senior Management is completely disconnected and couldn't manage a snowball stand successfully. I have no idea how most of them got their position since none of them seem to have the qualifications needed to be in their roles. This place is a real boys-club. There are a few women in Senior Management roles, but you'll find that they're doing most of the work while the guys are off golfing and "networking". No real advancement unless you can swing a golf club.

We appreciate feedback as it helps us to continually monitor and improve our employees work experiences, and agree with you that we do have great people who work for NFP. We’re sorry you’ve had a negative experience. We work hard as a team to support all of our employees through multiple initiatives that build gender parity and diversity from our focus on Women in Leadership to our Diversity and Inclusion efforts, Mentorships and training designed to enhance leadership skills at all levels of the organization. Our NFP leaders are mostly made up of former owners and principals of successful brokerage firms who have come together to create the 4th largest U.S. broker, and while those leaders have been more male than female, we constantly strive to advance our female employees throughout the company. We have seen progress in our efforts and just this year we were selected as one of the Best Places to Work in the Insurance industry. If you have ideas on how to make the workplace better, we encourage you to speak to your leaders or reach out to Human Resources.
