Pros

Good salary and excellent range of benefits. Staff are generally supportive and helpful towards each other.

Cons

Very old-fashioned leadership styles. The company is effectively a monopoly and this is reflected in the lack of commercial awareness of its management. There is no real incentive for the company to increase its efficiency (despite Ofgem's RIIO) and it has become bloated, hierarchical and with more bureaucracy and red tape than the civil service. The leadership are very keen to adopt the latest jargon-filled initiatives touted by management consultants in a desperate effort to appear commercially driven. But the company will still keep going because it is a monopoly and despite its management.
