Pros

Neighborly was great to work for because it was a medium sized fast-growing organization. It was a company without being corporate. We didn't just own franchises - we partnered with franchise owners to support them while they put their life savings on the line to live a dream. And those owners didn't just mow lawns or do plumbing. They gave homeowners peace of mind, security, and time back with their families. Salaries and PTO were lower than the market, but it was worth it because the culture was inspiring. Reciting the code of values before each meeting was a bit odd, but they were values worth committing to and when someone didn't, we had a standard to refer back. These created a culture that brought out our best and created loyalty beyond what I've experienced in any other organization.

Cons

Neighborly is going in a different direction. The Code of Values are out, not officially, but they disappeared after Enrichment Day. I left ERD feeling like we had a great strategic plan. The execution must be atrocious because the feeling in the office is ominous. We are hemorrhaging leaders. Many who move to higher positions in other companies. The newly created Chief Growth Officer role came and went faster than the COO position was eliminated. It feels like lofty goals were created without a full map from point A to B. The feeling in the office is depressing. I don't know a single associate in ANY department who has a manageable workload. We are given additional tasks without a title change or compensation. The remaining leaders are clearly struggling to find motivation. There may come a day that Neighborly is able to financially compensate associates enough to no longer need the altruistic tight-knit community that made coming to work feel personally important, but we are not there yet and many of our tenured associates reject that direction. I don't know what the future holds for Neighborly. This may be what is needed to provide the best return to KKR, but it's hard to see people who have spent 15+ years devoted to a mission lose their motivation. My hope is that these leaders, who are the heart and soul of the organization, foster Neighborly culture within their teams and take every opportunity to remind franchises that what their value goes far beyond shareholder revenue.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and detailed review. We truly appreciate your reflections on what made Neighborly special to you. The sense of purpose, the connection to our franchise owners, and the inspiring culture built around our Code of Values. Your words about the impact our franchisees have on homeowners and the loyalty fostered within our teams are deeply moving and a testament to the legacy we’ve built together. We also want to acknowledge the concerns you’ve raised. Change, especially in a growing organization, can be difficult and sometimes unsettling. We hear you on the challenges around workload, compensation, and the evolving culture. Your feedback about leadership transitions, strategic execution, and the emotional impact of organizational shifts is important and not taken lightly. Our goal remains to support our associates and franchise owners in meaningful ways. While we may be navigating a new direction, we are committed to preserving the heart of Neighborly. The values, community, and mission that have always set us apart. We know that innovation and excellence come from empowered, connected teams, and we are actively working to ensure our leaders have the space and support to foster that environment. Thank you again for your dedication and for sharing your perspective. Your voice matters, and we are committed to learning from it as we move forward. Pros

-Remote -included into the business goals and financials so it lets you know the overall status of the company -decent pto

Cons

(This applies specifically to the Real Property Management division) -you will be severely underpaid, guaranteed below market rate - team huddles consist of trash talking coworkers -you won't learn any new skills -minimal marketing tools to do your job - minimal raise that will make no difference, even after 2 raises I was still below market rate -no growth in role because they will not want to pay for a new title -responsible for several things outside of role, since they don't want to hire new people you will do very mundane task. - will spend several weeks/months completing a mandatory task just for it to be changed days later and back to square one. - they will monitor your time, if you are away for any amount of time you will hear about it. -will retaliate if you don't conform to their "culture" -benefits are very expensive -mandatory travel to Dallas

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We genuinely appreciate feedback, both positive and constructive, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve. We’re glad to hear that you valued the transparency around business goals and financials, as well as the flexibility of remote work and our PTO offerings. These are areas we continue to prioritize to support our team members. We’re also truly sorry to hear about the concerns you raised regarding compensation, team dynamics, growth opportunities, and support tools. These are serious issues, and we want to acknowledge your experience. We understand how important it is to feel valued, supported, and fairly compensated for your contributions. We’re actively reviewing our compensation structures and career development pathways to ensure they align with market standards and employee expectations. Regarding culture and communication, we are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. If any team interactions fell short of that standard, we take that seriously and would welcome a call from you to discuss further (please email people.services@nbly.com). Your feedback about role clarity, workload distribution, and marketing resources is also noted. We appreciate your honesty and are committed to making meaningful changes.
