Pros

Low stress environment with the flexibility to choose your own deadlines and tasks. Exposure to different technologies ranging from mechanical to electrical to software. Company has a good devotion towards the community which includes a nice scholarship program. Lots of current career opportunities from retirements and/or people quitting.

Cons

Poor employee development. Have received minimal to no technical training. Jargon around the workplace is typically made up technical fluff terms instead of actual textbook concepts and fundamental understandings. Collaboration amongst coworkers is very low. Management has a select few favorites and has their cliques: thou who does not belong to the favorite list will be put on the backburner. Projects miss deadlines on a regular basis. There seems to be prominent "who-cares" attitude among nearly every employee, which probably ties back to the subpar compensation system which mirrors a communist bonus system. Career advancement requires a plethora of time, and any added licenses, certificates, or degrees will not grant higher distinctions or merits. Office building has poor natural lighting, no cafeteria, and smells like adhesive regularly from laboratory testing.

Pros

Some employees are very talented.

Cons

Middle management is only focused on current quarter results. No long time vision on products. Everything is motivated by short term bonuses. Corporate is becoming a capital investment group cares nothing for core business. Not much diversity leads to close minded thinking and business practices. Ageism is a serious issue.

Pros

Philanthropic organization; many opportunities to move within the organization; mandatory holiday shutdown (with pay) and solid succession planning focus to assure business continuity.

Cons

Nordson has a "do more with less" philosophy and when employees leave, they would rather pile the work on to already over-worked employees and save the headcount versus replacing the departed employee. That combined with new projects and no-new headcount to support those projects creates burnout and good employees are leaving. The cycle repeats.
