Pros

Benefits, insurance, location and the hard working people who put up with a lot

Cons

Not sure where to start, I am watched wherever I go and clocked when I go to the bathroom, employees are not given much independence nor freedom, if there is no work, you are expected to stay in your seat and read their handbook instead of having the availability to leave early. The culture is horrible and people quit left and right. If you are more than 5 minutes late to work chances of you getting fired are high after the third time. If there is a family emergency, dont expect them to be flexible. Micromanagement is at an all time high. They take their employees for granted, even if you have been in this place for longer than 3 years. Favoritism runs rampant. Hard to build relationships with coworkers for the sake of the company since we have to be quiet and act like robots in a jail like setting. Rare to work from home and YES other Credit Unions offer that possibility so what they say in training is wrong. I thought training was an exaggeration when they said work over EVERYTHING but that is their mentality and if you cant put this company over everything expect to be fired. Even if you quit, they will state you were fired. Oh and if you ask for vacation, there is a 50/50 chance theyll say yes. If they say no and you argue with them, you have the option to quit or per them "You'll be fired!"

A Company You Should NOT Work For

Pros

Cadillac Health Benefits! (don't count on these staying around for much longer)

Cons

NWFCU is a company you shouldn't want to work for. Glassdoor recently posted an article "7 Companies You Should Never Work For" and sadly NWFCU fits all 7 red flags given. 1. A High Turn-Over Outfit - Since bringing on CEO Chris McDonald NWFCU has seen tremendous turn-over on every level. 2. Poor Company Culture - NWFCU was once known for its culture of putting Members first and employees second. Now the culture is all about the bottom line with employee satisfaction at the bottom of the list. 3.Great curb appeal, needs interior renovations - NWFCU has recently renovated the executive suite to the tune of $2M while having employees work off a system that does not meet member needs 4. Top heavy - This organization is so top heavy that the employees feel the weight daily. The executive team is entirely out of touch sitting in their newly renovated suite, rarely coming down from their castle and never providing any transparency on new decisions, policy or procedures. 5. Perpetual Promiser - At every employee All Hands meeting the executive team makes new promises, promises of growth opportunities, work on employee satisfaction and transparency throughout the organization. These promises have been made since Mr. McDonald has come on board and not one has been followed through on. 6. Stagnation - External hires are all the rage at NWFCU, while there is the occasional internal move it is never compensated at the level of external hires. Internal employees are rarely given promised training or job growth opportunities to move up in the corporation. 7. Directionless Ship - With the lack of transparency no one knows what the executive team is going to do. With the bottom line as the priority, it seems like anything goes but no one knows where. An example would be the new Consumer Lending Center, the CU spent millions of dollars in renovations only to realize that the area was a bad fit and to incorporate an entire department into another. Mistakes are made and not owned up to.

Toxic!!!

Pros

Pay, benefits. The CEO seems to take efforts to change the culture but it is very hard.

Cons

I regretted that I did not read the company reviews carefully before accepting the offer and wasted my time there. My suggestion to those who are reading the reviews: For your mental health- Just do not come!!! The most toxic workplace you will EVER experience in your lifetime. It is truly the only employer experience where I walked into the door feeling a confident professional and left questioning my career choice and skills. The department I worked at is lean. The co-workers are very nice and united ( I love them!), while the management was extremely narcissistic and mean! There is unhealthy stress in daily communication (gaslighting-PUA, not to mention micro-management ). I never felt safe and settled in the office for one single day! You are expected to work/behave and think in the exact way your manager expected; otherwise, you will be accused of not performing as expected, and there is no value for your being here. The manager counts your time on and off and how much time you spend at lunch! Even when you worked to the extreme of your capability, there is endless criticism and negative feedback. You should be a working machine that the manager can use as a tool to achieve unrealistic expectations. You will never be treated as a professional or even a human being. Again, for your mental health, do not come!!
