Pros

You most likely won't get laid off.

Cons

Old mentality, hates change, very sexist, buddy buddy system. Unqualified people get jobs based on who they know. They take forever to make any small decision. There is no succession plan or development for people in specific roles, you just have to hope that your supervisor retires. Theres no accountability for people doing the wrong thing. Leadership only cares about money and not people.

Pros

A family-oriented company, flexible with family commitments. Great salaries and benefits.

Cons

A company that hires and promotes people based on more nepotism and patronage than merit... And they'll be the first to tell you so. Being a monopoly is the reason there is no pressure to hire the best. HR department is a shame.

Pros

The people who I work with are amazing.. very smart individuals that can make anything happen when needed. Pretty welcoming environment as well, no real complaints there.

Cons

Project timelines are absolutely ridiculous. I can't speak from experience since I'm relatively new to software development, but I'm pretty sure that major software projects take more time than 2 months for specification, development and testing altogether. I'm watching developers lose sleep over maintaining garbage legacy applications that were probably hurried out the door as well... If you're not sprinting, however, it feels like there's nothing to do. During very few moments would I say that the team has had an "average" workload. OGE also has an outsourcing problem, which is currently causing more problems than it is solving. In fact, an employee who had spent 30+ years with the company was let go recently.
