Pros

* Culture is very relaxed and friendly (do your work and you are fine) * Very little to no micromanagement * Product is the best of its kind and is very niche, has potential to disrupt the market. * Features are finally at a point that the market had dictated so finding new powerful features unheard of is the clear next step in the development process * CEO is a genius in his own right. * The product's wow factor is quite strong.

Cons

* Nepotism is very strong in this company * The Sales Organization is run to encourage the shark like behavior(people constantly stabbing others in the back) * This behavior sometimes happens in a sales organization but especially rampant from development to sales. * The lack of humanity is quite obvious. It is common to see employees who had otherwise excellent interactions suddenly be let go without warning * Each office is essentially run as its own branch of Oblong, so be aware you are working for that local office, and realistically, only that office despite you working at a global company.

Our goal is to nurture a positive, collaborative environment where employees advance their careers based on the merits of their work, not on their internal contacts. I’m sorry this wasn’t your experience. This is not the culture we set out to create. We take our low turnover rate and strong employee referral program as evidence of overall employee satisfaction. However, there are always areas that can be improved which is why this year we will implement a program to elicit ongoing honest, constructive feedback from employees. Pros

Oblong is committed to thinking big, literally (in terms of the size of a system UI) and figuratively (to do whatever it takes to make that happen). If you want to work on exciting technology, then Oblong is a great place. Importantly, the senior management, in addition to being intelligent, are good people. They care about the folks who work with/for them, and they set the tone for a culture of integrity.

Cons

The company's products currently have only a smallish number of (very large) customers, which in the untrustable opinion of this ill-informed outsider suggests uncertainty in their future.

Our core business is seeing strong growth, we count some of the best names in business amongst our valued customers and this is in no small part due to the characteristics you highlight. Great CEO, others not so great

Pros

* There are a bunch of extremely talented, dedicated people working here. * Great space and work environment. * Sales team is well-run with consistent growth.

Cons

* There is an aura of favoritism in the company. * Not sure what value some of the VPs (Solutions, Hardware) actually bring. * The platform is led by a long timer, but not a technical powerhouse; the platform has seriously languished. * The company has no 401(k) match. * The company lists lunches as a perk then asks employees to pay into the "benefit".

Thank you for providing your feedback. I agree that our team is full of extremely talented and dedicated people, including our CEO. I’m sorry you feel that favoritism plays a role in advancement. We work hard to ensure that employees succeed based solely on the merits of their work. We’ve clarified the language regarding the gourmet lunch program so that new hires are aware that it is an opt-in program requiring a bi-weekly contribution. Our employee benefits package includes fully funded health, dental, and vision insurance plan options, as well as commuter benefits, discretionary PTO, and flexible work schedules. We are continuously evaluating ways that we can improve both our company culture and employee benefits package. To that end, in 2017 we are implementing a system for eliciting vital, constructive feedback from our employees on a recurring basis.
