Pros

* An incredible culture that empowers individuals to make an impact on the company and to seek out ways to improve both the day-to-day business and the long-term direction of the company. * As a small company transitioning from a custom development shop to a product focused company, Oblong offers plenty of career opportunities and experience building a company up from the ground floor. * Plenty of client-facing work opportunities with a number of major Fortune 500 companies. * Incredible health benefits and solid compensation, including opportunity for equity. * Three meals a week with a plentiful source of snacks.

Cons

* Slow to form a complete management team but has course corrected and now has a capable and focused team in place. CEO change resulted in a better focus for the company. * As with any small company, an individual better be ready to dig in and work hard. Oblong is looking to shake up the world of computing, so the work is challenging and requires commitment -- be ready to get your hands dirty!

Pros

Oblong really cares about its employees - initially they served lunch 3 days a week, provided health insurance and paid into an HSA to counter the high deductible. Everyone was great...except the CEO who should not have been in that position.

Cons

The CEO rules with an iron fist, and is passive aggressive at the same time. He is not responsive to suggestions or negotiation when he disagrees, and marginalizes employees that he disagrees with. He is not open to listening or allowing others to manage in a productive way. This aspect of the company is the one thing that has driven it into the ground.

The company had a change of executive leadership (CEO spot) at the end of 2013. John Underkoffler is now the company's CEO.
