Pros

- Only pro was remote work, however this was not extended to all employees equally, so counting this as so/so

Cons

Sigh. I worked for Onit for a long time (5+ years), and watched what was a fun and engaging place to work turn into an unorganized, uninspiring old boys club. They continually surprised employees with round after round of layoffs, eliminating people who had crucial company knowledge and devastating the working capacity of teams. Whole project teams were fired from underneath ongoing client projects with no transition plans, absolutely baffling. New leadership brought in a whole new band of c-suite, vps, and execs who all parrot the same lines. Very frustrating to listen to leadership talk out of one side of their mouths during company all hands and never follow through. Good reminder that loyalty to the company you work for is absolutely useless. Do what is best for YOU and YOU ALONE. Don't expect your company to do anything for you.

Pros

The people -- except they are letting many of the rockstars go.

Cons

New leadership doesn't care about you. Low morale across most teams. Doesn't pay well vs. other companies of the same size/stage. The company can't make its own decisions without approval and blessing from PE owners. Not a lot of growth opportunities. They don't invest in your professional growth. Lots of talk about DE&I from leadership, but no action. And all new execs that have been hired have a common denominator (surprise surprise).

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

Imagine you're applying for a job, and you ask about compensation and benefits, and below are everything you are told. These are all factual and current situations that Onit employees are dealing with: - No 401k match - No Stock options to share the future potential success of the company (even though the CEO Eric Elfman keeps saying he is trying to make this happen) - No pay raises, REGARDLESS of how well you've performed - Just enough parental leave to make it legal, but nothing beyond what's legally required state by state - Many tech companies offer a health stipend (gym membership, equipment at home, etc.), Onit offers none of that. - Cut software expenses for software that you like and use for your position Fair warning that you should try to work somewhere else, they show zero appreciation for their employees, and are blinded by the light of profitability. I would also highly reccomend never working for any company under the K1 Investment Management Umbrella.

Onit Response
3y
Onit had to make some tough financial decisions based on the unprecedented macroeconomic conditions (like so many other organizations). However, we remain committed to our employees and look forward to reinstating certain employee benefits as soon as possible. It is important to note that we are continuously looking at different ways we can show our appreciation for the hard work our employees put in to help reach our collective goals (ex: Refresh day, where employees have 8 hours per month to spend time on activities they find enjoyable).
