They tell you that they're going to hire you in at a lower-level position and move you up. When I asked what the timeline typically looked like, they told me they had seen people move up to serving within 3-4 months - sometimes even as little as a month. I worked as hard as I possibly could and still hadn't moved up within a year. Every time I asked, they told me they would move me up soon, but apparently my opportunity just never came. They also hardly treat you like a human being; rather, you're a PF Chang's robot. I can't even count how many times I worked from open to close without getting a break - not even 15 minutes to sit down. They decide whether or not you get to eat based on traffic. If the kitchen is too busy, they don't make food for you. The most infuriating, however, was their incredible lack of empathy. I am a student first. That's the whole reason I live in the area. I was taking 16 credit hours and working 35 hours a week, falling behind in all of my classes, and they continued to schedule me for absurd hours while other people were only working 8. If you ever request time off during finals week to study, your request would be blatantly denied. I worked 40 hours during finals week. The icing on top of the cake was when I had a family emergency that required my presence out of town, and, despite the fact that I called 6 hours before my shift was due to start - ON A WEDNESDAY - they told me they needed me to come in and that there weren't really any other options. They wouldn't even make the effort to help me when one of my family members needed me there. Long story short, DO NOT WORK HERE. I was one of their hardest-working employees and all they ever did was push me around and belittle me.
