Pros

PEI offers an interesting range of products, in an interesting industry. The work atmosphere is nice, so are the people to work with / for not too long hours

Cons

Starting salaries are low, promotion is difficult because of the size of the company. great company to start with but not ideal for a long career.

PEI Group Response

PEI is a relatively young company - less than 15 years old but its interesting to see that like a lot of companies, we have some positions which people make a real career commitment to and there are other positions which people see as a 'starter' role or a step on the way to something else. We're not unusual in that. I see that we've people here who've been here almost since the very beginning - we recently celebrated a number of folks who've found good things to do around here for at least the last ten years. But there are also roles or areas of the company where people either join us and change jobs internally after a while - or indeed they move on at a time that's right for them, to something else outside. We believe that as the company grows, personnel engagement with the goals and ideals of the company becomes more and more important. We also believe that its important to know your contribution is valued, has importance to the company and is contributing to the success enjoyed by everyone. Hopefully ( I see this review was written in 2010) we've made some good advances in this respect: sharing discussion of our goals, investments, progress, success and being clear and straightforward about how different functions inside the company link to that. We also bear in mind that we're competing with some pretty well resourced media groups when it comes to key roles in our organisation. So my sense is that we're getting the salary equation right more times than not - and that the competition keeps us on our toes in this respect. That said, the reasons for coming to work at PEI are many and they include, but are not limited to salary hopes. PEI offers a relatively shallow hierarchy which enables personal influence for those who are so disposed. We offer the chance to work on market leading brands in information and events which connect directly with fascinating sectors of the global investment markets. And increasingly, our scale and geographical make up allows for opportunity to travel and indeed work overseas, in London, New York or Hong Kong, Tim McLoughlin - CEO
