Not my cup of tea

Pros

There are a few people there who are very talented and genuinely nice, though not appreciated.

Cons

The management team is distant, the mid-level management think they know it all and there's next to no teamwork whatsoever.

I'd say there are more than a' few people who are very talented and genuinely nice'. PEI isn't known in the market for its 'corporate brand'. It is know by its market-facing information brands and market leading events. Readers and event participants see those brands to be smart, connected, engaged and informative. We don't take for granted that the qualities were known for arise because of the talented people who make it happen. And anyone 'making it happen' in editorial, research/analytics, marketing, event creation or a sales function at PEI knows we don't work alone - cross collaboration, co-ordination and working together is what gets it done. Working at PEI isn't for everyone - I get that. We've high ambitions and we expect to work hard. I don't claim that we get everything right - but we're getting better at lots of stuff all the time. So its a shame you didn't have a good time before you left. I don't know who you are, or why that was - but I would have welcomed this feedback whilst you were here. The Management is not half as distant or self-satisfied as you seem to have imagined. You know my contact details if you think I've got that wrong - and I would sincerely welcome the connection. Pros

Great place to work. Flex hours were great for going to school and working. Great staff and managers

Cons

The hourly wage could be a little higher. The manager seemed overworked. Maybe they could promote part-time to become a full time employee to help

The employee address and referencing to part time/full time positions suggests this is not a review of PEI Media Group - based in London, New York and Hong Kong - providing specialist information products and conference opportunities to global alternative asset class investment markets. Pros

The company has recently moved into much-improved space in all three of its offices: brighter, smarter, nicer. The London location, layout and facilities are great. And the management seem to be spending meaningful amounts of time and money getting workflows running smoother as the operation adds people and products. It's not perfect but the commitment to make your working life as hassle free as possible is clearly there. Having got to know the company over the past three years I don't recognise much of what the previous reviewer was complaining about. I'm guessing she had particular issues about her role.

Cons

Not all internal communications are as effective or as extensive as you'd like. You need to pay attention and stay connected. Unsurprisingly that includes connecting well with colleagues in the other offices - people can be a bit head down and/or out of sight, out of mind at times. Not everything goes to plan: the company has been struggling with its new web platform with external developers still trying to get the job finished properly. As a journalist trying to use this to post stories this can be a pain in the *ss.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. (reply update March 18) Some time has passed - the company keeps on growing. We just relocated both our New York operations and our London operations to find a net 50% more growing room accross the company. Headcount is up in all three offices - London, NY, HK - and I hope we're still managing to be not too bureaucrative and big company like. Some good steps like adopting Slack, Office 365, Dropbox have helped a lot with collaboration and day to day connectivity. The new moves have triggered an upgrade in videoconferencing platform between our three locations and we've just added HK to Avaya too. That said - there's no substitute to reaching out and connecting - provided you're informed about what you could be reaching out and connecting on, of course. I trust that MD's in each office, together with what I see to be energetic and reasonably extrovert team leaders and managers, are keeping you enthusiastically apprised of howe we're doing and where we're going. I am always happy to fill in the gaps - so do connect if you feel you could use more story. Meantime - how are you liking the new technology plaftforms we completed the upgrade for in November 2017? Editorial workflows and ease of access were primary in those investments... all good I hope? Best. Tim McLoughlin - CEO
