Pros

Respected brands, friendly atmosphere, lovely colleagues. Opportunity to move to New York or Hong Kong.

Cons

Career progression is challenging. Management often too late in recognising that a promotion is overdue.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment here. We continue to focus on the value of our brands and the highest quality response to our market opportunities - and I agree with you that we seem to be fostering an enjoyable work environment whilst investing all the time in our brands and our market offerings and delivering great growth. One thing worth highlighting is that we (currently) have a fairly 'informal' approach to HR management in the company. That will change over time - but until it does, I hope everyone feels encouraged and able to talk to their team leadership about their career aspirations and personal development. As you point out, we have opportunities arising all the time in London, New York and Hong Kong - and moves can be within a team, across teams and even across continents. I see a lot of movement has happened like this during the last year for instance. We don't want anyone who's clearly ready and able to take on more responsibility to feel frustrated. Please do take this up - either formally or informally - in your next 1-on-1 and see what happens. Tim McLoughlin - CEO

Pros

None. You will be out as soon as you can lie and pitch your ``Researcher`` CV to someone.

Cons

Management is a joke. No real guidance or training provided. The department was run as a sweatshop.

We take these remarks seriously as we think about how we can best grow the company. As well as growing commercially were also striving to make it a place where people want to give their best work - and find their work appreciated. Clearly that's not this person's experience. I am more than confident that PEI is not run as a sweatshop - its a place for engaged, intelligent, self-motivated people can develop a career in a market-leading business-to-business media group, addressing a unique and commercially rewarding market sector. Our research, analysis and journalism is relied upon by some of the most active and important institutional investors and fund managers in the world. Perhaps in this individual situation there was a mismatch between the capabilities of the person and the requirements our clients have for our services. Tim McLoughlin - CEO

An ambitious company in transition

Pros

Working on the edit team at PEI for a number of years now has meant being surrounded by bright, switched on individuals who know our markets well -- and have a good balance in terms of banter over the desks and buckling down to meet deadlines. The high-level analysis and output expected of journalists here keeps us interfacing with dynamic thought leaders in financial markets, who often also influence policy and politics.

Cons

The company is in the midst of redefining and re-shaping some internal operations and best practice, to catch up with how quickly it's been growing and also deliver better products. This can sometimes be difficult for staff, depending on their own tendencies and working preferences, as for some these changes can't come fast enough while for others it's a bit of an adjustment getting used to new procedures and practices.

Thank you for your comments which I pay personal attention to. We take these remarks seriously as we think about how we can best grow the company. As well as growing commercially were also striving to make it a place where people want to give their best work - and find their work appreciated. Technology has been a challenging test for us - and we need to get this right. So we've increased the rate of investment in this area this year and crucially, accelerated a hiring plan to bring in more experience and capability to the technology team, so we can progress more quickly and accomplish more successfully. I would hope we're making more noticeable progress on company communications and cross departmental collaboration. We've more to do and the team across our three continents is growing rapidly but it seems to me that we're achieving good progress. There's more to do for sure. Tim McLoughlin - CEO
