Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear you see the value in our commission structure and the opportunities it creates for high-performing sales professionals. We also understand that starting in a fast-paced, sales-focused role can be challenging - especially when it comes to learning on the job. Your feedback around training is appreciated. We're continually working to improve and evolve our onboarding and development programs, and comments like yours help guide that process. Thanks again for your insights. ~ People & Culture Team, PHMG

Pros

I was at PHMG for two years, and it was a real roller coaster—but overall, I enjoyed my time there. If you’re just out of school and looking to get into sales, it’s a great place to start. You’ll grow a lot, both professionally and personally. The job comes with quotas and daily targets, and you’ll definitely have your ups and downs. But there are fun incentives like President’s Club dinners, Cubs games, and early leave days when you hit certain goals. Success really depends on your work ethic. If you’re lazy or not giving it your all, it won’t work out. But if you hustle, the company rewards you. I had back-to-back months where I made $5K in commission on top of my salary thanks to performance bonuses. Also, the VP of Sales can be strict, but he genuinely cares. If you’re honest with him, he’ll go out of his way to support you.

Cons

Like any good company, PHMG has its downsides. The biggest one is the pressure—if you’re not hitting your numbers, the anxiety can get to you. It’s a pure numbers game, and burnout is real. You have to source new business every single day, and I did that for two years straight. Career growth is also limited. You can become a Team Lead, and maybe—if you’re lucky—a Sales Manager, but that’s about it. There’s no clear path to becoming an Account Executive or Business Development Manager, which was one of the main reasons I moved on. At the end of the day, this job is one of those “you either get it or you don’t” roles. If you do, you’ll thrive. Being good at the job makes you more likable, and being likable opens up more opportunities.

Thank you for your detailed and candid feedback. We're glad to hear that you found your time at PHMG both rewarding and developmental, especially in terms of professional and personal growth. It’s great to know that you valued the incentives, team culture, and support from leadership - particularly the recognition of our VP of Sales’ dedication to the team. We also appreciate your constructive insights on areas where we can improve. We recognise that the role comes with high expectations, and we’re actively exploring ways to better support our sales teams - both in terms of system improvements, progression and wellbeing. Your suggestions around a clearer promotion path, adjusted performance metrics, and flexible working options are especially valuable, and they’ll be shared with our leadership team as we continue refining the employee experience. Thanks again for your contribution during your time with us, and we wish you continued success in your career. ~ People and Culture Team
