Great coworkers but senior management that doesn't value employees well
Pros
The coworkers you will encounter will be some amazing people. I made numerous life-long friends while there in addition to many other quality people whom I enjoyed interacting with on a regular basis. People are friendly, personable, willing to pitch in to get the job done, and happy to help.
Cons
The biggest negative here is that senior management is penny wise but pound foolish. They fail to see the true value of employees and refuse to pay them wages that are commensurate with their work levels, quality of work, and experience. As an example, after they laid off 1/3 of the company in 2014, they combined a lot of roles yet the amount of work did not go down. However, they did not increase the salaries of most people in order to compensate for the additional work. When confronted with this issue, they responded with the most inane logic I've ever heard: "when creating hybridized roles, we pay the average of the salaries, not the sum of those because it's industry standard". The workload is cumulative, not an average, so why wouldn't the pay be as well? If three people are getting paid $50k a year to do a job and the company lays off two people, gives those responsibilities to the one person left, that person now has 3x the workload. Saying that they should be paid the average of those three salaries ($50k) instead of the sum ($150k) makes no rational sense given the cumulative addition of the work. What this ultimately points to is that senior management's highest priority is not about creating great pharmacy automation products, but instead, about finding creative ways not to pay people what they are worth so that they can line their pockets with the exploitation of their own employees. In this regard, Parata is very similar to China. Both Parata and China make great products that people like to consume. However, both exploit their own labor force to do so calling into question whether it is even ethical to buy from such an exploitative regime.
