Pros

Relatively young company in a very niche market. Growth and increased market share probably have more to do with weak competition than Parts Town wants to admit, however they do do some things right; embracing and leveraging technology is probably the best example of this. This growth does open some new opportunities for career development. However...

Cons

...the growing pains of such sudden growth include people moved or promoted to positions they are probably under-qualified for; generally speaking most positions across all departments pay below industry average; mediocre benefits; relatively low ceiling for true career development as most new positions remain entry level. An OK company to start with while perhaps building to transition to a more established organization. One that is a bigger fish in a bigger pond that is willing to compensate better.

Pros

The "worker bees" are friendly and make the days enjoyable. There is an effort to make the culture anti-corporate which is refreshing.

Cons

The leadership is quite aloof and unsociable. Very low pay in comparison to other businesses of this considerable size. The medical insurance is a poor choice of companies with very narrow in-network choices - so more $ coming out of your own pocket to maintain a good doctor. There's much bragging about job opportunities when in reality most all are low level positions. The employee cubes are the size of a bathroom stall. Vacation and sick pay are all considered as one so beware when your told you have XX amount of vacation days. That is an incredibly misleading hiring benefit practice. Also, staff is solicited to give positive reviews so beware of what you see listed.

Pros

Most of the people who work here are good, hard-working people. They give 100% every day, and are willing to help at the drop of a hat. There are some who are only looking out for themselves, but that's typical of any business environment. The culture can be fun, but definitely overwhelming for some. However, you will only benefit from the culture as much effort as you put into it. In other words, if you don't make an effort to be social you will not have fun there.

Cons

After leaving Parts Town, I suffered a great deal of disillusionment. I had spent so long in one part of the company, and grown to see that department as a family, that once I exited that group to try and move up in the company, I realized that the company has serious problems. The amount of favoritism, nepotism, and discrimination that goes on in this company is difficult to stomach. The pay is not the least bit competitive. Leadership/Director positions are the only ones decently paid, and those people easily work 60-70 hours a week-- every week. Meanwhile, if you start in the warehouse, and eventually "move-up" into an office position, you will not be making nearly as much as someone who started in the office. The way their pay-structure works, you never will.
