Pros

Customer relationships, perceived potential to move up, pets

Cons

Communication is poor, company makes a lot of lip service about values but doesn't provide tools or support to back it meaningfully.

Pros

Good at first, get to see lots of different pets come in.

Cons

They lie to you about advancing in the company. Worked there for almost 4 years. Was told I could advance to management but then was told they didn’t have that position open, then offered it to a girl who was there for only 3 weeks. They also have a history of saying employees steal things to get you fired as well. (Happened to me and my former boss) took away our vacation time without a payout on it or giving us much time to use it before they did. Also Took our RM almost 2-3 months to hire a new manager while we were short staffed that caused some of us to work 2 weeks at a time without days off and Lunches where cut short cause of it as well. They also don’t really like it when you have family/personal emergencies either. Company was awesome at first, then just became a horrible place to work for.

Lack of leadership

Pros

Interacting with customers and genuinely building a connection. Pets, of course!

Cons

I worked at Petsense for over a year and saw so much turnover it was unbelievable. I left myself at one point, but came back and worked for one of the best managers I know that company had ever seen. But the company itself doesn't value its employees, all they want is bodies in a store. On a store manager level, we were great. But when you move up to market managers and regional managers, there was so little care and so little leadership. As long as sales were good, they didn't care to check in. But the second sales dropped, it was the end of the world and your store needed to be "fixed." Also, your workers deserve more pay for what they deal with.
