Pros

Amazing coworkers, everyone is passionate, lots of PTO, good benefits, getting to go to the Zoo everyday, built up my resume with a lot of useful experience

Cons

Low pay for the brunt of employees with top heavy salaries for execs (nature of a nonprofit, sadly), long hours without overtime as salaried employees, not much opportunity for growth as there are a lot of "lifers"

Very fulfilling to be around animals all day and share in guests' excitement, access to behind-the-scenes and inside knowledge of the zoo, tight-knit community of employees, supportive supervisors, unique experiences that you can't get from any other job.

Cons

Low pay, no opportunity for advancement, high level of competition for job openings.
