Don't Work Here

Pros

The office manager is a great guy, as is the CEO and founder. Great people, and the environment is nice and fun overall. A little too fun and nice, almost as if they're hiding something,

Cons

The whole place is a con. Unless you're Jewish, you really need not apply to this company on the technical side, because you won't fit in and that feeling is palpable. And, the tech is behind other places. A lot of technical debt without suficient documentation. Not a lot of new/popular frameworks or tools being used at all. If you like working with vanilla code and older commonplace practices, this is your place. Otherwise, save yourself the time.

Dear Former Employee, We’re happy to hear that you felt the people and environment overall at Prodege was nice and fun. I promise, we have nothing to hide and genuinely want employees to have fun and enjoy working here! We are disappointed however to hear your thoughts about the technical side of our company. I have shared your feedback with the tech team so that they are aware of your experience. It is definitely not the intent of anyone in the company to have any employee feel like they don’t fit in and we pride ourselves on being inclusive of people from all walks of life. Please know that we are taking this feedback to heart and will strive to ensure that no one else feels this way. With regard to your specific feedback on our code and tools used; we do use tried and true technologies that we know can scale to support a growing business. We use Java, MySQL, as well as many of the latest AWS services; which are all industry standard tools that we believe suit our business and will allow us to continue on our growth trajectory. Thank you again for your feedback.

Observation: Majority good, but big impacts from few bad seeds

Pros

1. Great benefits package. You save a lot of money in this company. 2. There are, majority wise, good people in the office. 3. The Human Resources are very supportive and do anything to fix the problem. They are your equalizer in many situations. I just wished I approached them sooner.

Cons

1. Ignoring the expertise based off your title and refusing to create data to prove otherwise. When you are hired for your expertise, many and often times, your expertise are ignored. Thus, the growth of the company is highly impacted. Along with that, brings a lot of feelings of being of no value to the company, questioning if there's any growth and meaning onto the workforce for the longterm. 2. There's no trust between departments for a very good reason. A lot of people in certain projects and launches are kept in the dark from each other. And many people who originated genuine ideas and solutions are often discredited and given to those who didn't deserve it. When things go wrong, many talented workers are often thrown under the bus a bit too many times creating bad reviews which stunts any potential raise and growth in the company. This creates fear and helplessness from this power struggle. That brings to the feelings that many felt that they couldn't trust the Human Resources department as well. And so the whole office becomes a hostile and anxious work environment about to turn into a ticking time bomb. 3. Lack of growth. Lack of resources is pretty much the reason behind that. Resources and budgets are first come first serve for every department is what I was told. If there's no claim, then that department has lack thereof budget to support their colleagues in order to support the other departments. Which creates overwhelming environments. Overworking people. Pretty often, with no rewards for that effort. 4. Depending on who your manager is, some people can't take vacation or even a small break when things get slow sometimes. This also roots from #3 as there's lack of support for this. Understandably, this creates significant physical and mental exhaustion from being overworked.
