This job was not stated as a sales position, and instead was classified as a marketing position. So, while waiting on the floor in the sales office for my interview, I believed that this was mostly a company focused on sales that was looking to expand into marketing. Throughout the interview and Skyping with the director, they all basically told me that I would be marketing and would make calls to other universities and their contractors to expand the brand of PSPSports. Being young and naive, I didn't realize they were going to do a bait-and-switch where I was then placed into a sales role. Being paired with a senior mentor on the floor was awful. She was very aggressive and not supportive. She made mistakes when I made my first few sales and then told me to not tell anyone that she messed up, leaving me to sort of fall on the sword because she's sitting there listening to my conversations with others. I was also given a script that allowed for no freestyling and was assured the script was golden. The scripts are awful and often the answers don't completely meet the needs of the people you're talking to. The same leads were given to MULTIPLE people, so you end up calling people who then flip out at you because we've contacted them so many times already. I quit after 2 weeks and was told to "peace out immediately" from the supervisor after I offered to give 2 weeks notice. I was asked to not collect anything at my desk at all, but I went back and grabbed my purse anyway and never looked back.
