Pros

I worked at RPM for 3 years. The location of the office is great, and a majority of the people working there are fun to be around. Good stepping stone to getting a better job.

Cons

This is not a 9-5. This job is an 8 to 6, with the work never being over. You are paid commission based on a draw, and it’s paid out the month after the customer pays. Most companies are based on 60 day pay. So even if you hit your draw/seat cost the very first month (which isn’t easy) you won’t see that commission for about 3 months. So good luck living on 35k. When the company was doing really well they blew money on things we didn’t need. Like adding a new floor to the office, when half of the office was already empty. Starting up an office in Europe when the company was already struggling in the US. RPM also did things like pay Jordan Belfort to come into the office for a week to help with training our junior sales reps. Most of those reps quit because they didn’t do well or made zero commission. It was a waste of a lot of money. Covid hit and RPM has been struggling to be profitable. It seemed like whenever a customer rep was doing well. They would mysteriously get fired and the account would be given to some one that wouldn’t speak out about not getting paid the right amount of commission they deserved.

Pros

There is no dress code, I guess that's okay. There are TVs that are on, but you get reprimanded publicly if you're caught looking at one of them.

Cons

It's back in the 80s (temperature) in the office, we need to stop trying to be hipsters with a 100-year old building and move into an office built this century... with air-conditioning.

We do apologize for the few days where we had warmer than expected temperatures in the office. A new state of the art cooling system was in the process of being installed on the roof. We are thrilled to report that it is completely done and we are enjoying a setup under 70 degrees throughout the entire office. We have appreciated everyone’s patience and professionalism as the issue was being addressed with our building management. In addition, we are not hipsters working in an old building; we are building a business in the absolute best location in all of downtown Royal Oak, catering to our employees’ needs at their beck and call going well above 99.9% of all businesses in America, hence our consistent recognition in major publications. As a result, people love working at RPM and we will continue to provide the best experience for our employees – they deserve it!
