Amazing work culture but bad leadership

- Very including atmosphere and a highly diverse environment - People in general are super friendly - Rackspace encourages its employees to actively take part in philanthropic activities

Cons

- Too many middle management tiers - Unqualified middle management people - Highly opinionated technical leaders - Standing your ground on certain technical issues is loathed upon - To be successful, you need to align your line of thought to your technical leaders - else you will be shut down ! - Promotions in the engineering org are not on merit but rather on peer recommendations which could be highly biased.

Pros

The people in the technical staff are top notch and incredibly intelligent. Everyone has a similar mindset of wanting to help each other to be better and be better for our customers.

Cons

The top level management doesn't seem to know what to do with a company predicated on excellent customer service. Excellent customer service tends to be costly and businesses have the goal of always reducing cost. Those 2 things are fundamentally diametrically opposed.

The leadership. Pay is low for industry and I know lots of people leave for better pay and that leaves a ton of work for lower level admins without the experience.
