Pros

I enjoyed the work, mostly pleasant coworkers, and there was decent snacks for sale in the break room. "3 Keys To Success": (1) Positivity (2) Engage in conversation..."Tell me more about that...." (3) Dress To Impress.

Cons

The hiring process is very discriminatory; after screening people out with a Personality Test, interviewees are then forced to take an Intelligence Test. On the first day of training, the very first thing done, before introductions, is that employees are presented with a policy paper and notified that they can be instantly terminated at any time for any reason - sign here. (foreshadowing) I sat through 3 weeks of training classes; the fourth week was on-the-job training by making phone calls. I passed the mid-term and final exams. After working hard to learn the systems, extensive contradictory policies, and exceptions, I was forbidden by trainers from referencing my notes & writing down "what to improve" when I got feedback. On the last day of on-the-job training, the fourth Friday, I'm told, "We were scoring my calls and you got a 76; we needed a score of 80, so you are terminated effective immediately. You've shown improvement each day, but there's no second chance and this job's not for everybody. I'll walk you out." Guess that vacation time in 3 months that I asked about has been approved after all!

Pros

I have been working at Rapid Response Monitoring full-time for 7 years, and feel that it is a good time to share some insight based on my experiences while working for my company. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is being able to help people. We monitor residential and commercial fire, burglary, and medical alarms, and each day I have the potential to save someone's life from a medical emergency or protect someone's property from fire or theft! While I've enjoyed other jobs that I've held in the past, I had never went home with the same sense of accomplishment or fulfillment. Honestly, that initially sounded intimidating, but I appreciate the company's focus on providing tools, software, policies, and training time to assist Specialists navigate and complete alarms easily. The benefits are also very good! I have medical and dental plans which I've used with good coverage and deductibles, and I have a growing 401K as well. Some of the more subtle benefits though are an 8-hour work day, paid lunches and breaks, reward programs, and holiday parties. This is also an environment where I learned to be a professional in an industry, which is an experience that will help me succeed in my endeavors over the course of my life. I also enjoy the company's job security as the company has only been growing over the years! Lastly, a very important benefit is the people! I enjoy interacting and working with every individual in the company, learning from them, and helping each other learn and succeed. I must also mention a fantastic aspect of Rapid Response; the many job opportunities that are available within the company. I started with Rapid Response in 2008, learned 5 different skill-sets to become a fully-trained Specialist, joined a Specialty team, was accepted into the Training Department, and later became the Training Coordinator. I greatly respect that superior customer service, a driven work ethic, and a healthy learning environment is encouraged and rewarded here! Having the option to apply for vastly different departments and continue to learn and grow is highly attractive to me, and it is good that this type of movement is encouraged by management as well.

Cons

A unique aspect to protecting lives and property is that the work environment is not as relaxed as other companies, and policies can also change unexpectedly for several reasons. As a result I have learned to be flexible and more disciplined, although this can be a challenge to some.

Pros

supervisors are some of the best people to work for.

Cons

the upper managment does not care about you period if you work in the operations department, you are a peon and low life you will never leave that position unless you quit. they will not let you transfer to another department in the business. they will purposely schedule you for days you ask for off 6 months in advance to force you to use your PTO. very crappy upper management.
