Pros

I had a great program manager who advocated for her Site Coordinators and the centers that she supervised. There were opportunities for AmeriCorps members to provide constructive feedback through committees and surveys. The professional developments were tailored to the needs of the members. I met a lot of wonderful like minded people who came from a variety of working backgrounds.

Cons

The communication was not as strong amidst people who worked there. It is a small staff which made gossip and rumors rampant through the bigger group of AmeriCorps Members. The work was often tiring and was hard to complete at times.

Tulsa spiraling out of control

Pros

The work in the schools is so valuable. The one-to-one model is proven to be successful. Having worked in the non-profit sector before coming to Reading Partners, I found you will gain more understanding of the community and make more connections here than in others. You will experience working with young students and build your arsenal of literacy strategies should you further your career in education. Reading Partners' mission and core values are worthwhile causes.

Cons

This is strictly speaking about Tulsa. The Executive Director has made numerous questionable decisions throughout the 2016-2017 school year that have drastically hindered the once thriving organization. She has even been caught in complete lies to not only her employees but also regional stakeholders. It is downright embarrassing for any company's reputation! Policies within the region are not well enforced. Drastic leadership changes are taking place at the national level, leaving regions unsupported and poorly regulated. New managers are inexperienced and vastly undertrained. What was once growing to be a successful non-profit is now flunking.
