A Disappointment

Pros

Professional development opportunities Solid health insurance plan

Cons

Atmosphere is very rah rah, which is a turn off for me. Immature sales organization. Few resources for selling highly technical products, which creates a strain for the sales team to be able to effectively sell into accounts. Startup-like atmosphere despite over two decades in the marketplace. Micromanagement. Frequent churn in the workforce leading to a constant need to recruit or promote internally. Low diversity- though they were trying to improve.

Pros

Redgate has a great culture, solid products and a really strong market presence. The products are technical but the customers we work with are usually big fans and work well with us. I have left Redgate multiple times to go to other great companies for want of a change...none have compared, none have come close. We work hard, but RG respects the boundaries and importance of home life, managers actively encourage mental wellbeing and genuinely care so we don't work crazy hours. Getting the correct fit is important for Redgate, this could almost be called a con, but the reality is that it helps protect and nurture a non-toxic environment which is hugely important. We aren't perfect and sometimes those types break through the guard rails, but they rarely last in role no matter how good they may be in the role. Covid has really hit home how great this place is, the support and reassurance, the lack of redundancies and the confidence we would make it through without issues has been exceptional. Being able to tell me, team, not to worry about needing to cover childcare, head off to the Dr's at the drop of a hat, look after themselves as required has been amazing. Also being privately owned, we had no concerns with being furloughed to protect investors' bottom lines or shareholders. This place isn't for everyone, I can accept that, but I can honestly say in the 10yrs on and off I have worked here from being in the starting sales roles to being a manager, nothing comes close to trying to be the best place to work, and I haven't had a single day in those 10yrs where I haven't wanted to come to work. Even when I have left it has been with support and in a positive way.

Cons

Honestly, I don't think there is any but, I know there are negative reviews on here which is why I felt compelled to write this. But in my opinion, I just don't think they are particularly fair or balanced. Yes, you can potentially earn more elsewhere...on paper. But my targets here have always been achievable and realistic here. Always. Full stop. Yes, sometimes perception can be that decisions are made behind closed doors...but that is sometimes for good reason, people have always been transparent as hell and will even say "I can't tell you, but only because I can't tell you yet", they will always tell you as soon as they can. Usually, it is because they have to protect something that is legally difficult to work through. Sometimes people just don't mesh. That's fine...the reality is that it is unfortunate but the only people I would say are a problem are usually the ones that are exited and feel angry about it afterward.

Pros

- Great technology - Great people - Fair effort is put forth to promote good culture - Office environment was very enjoyable

Cons

The things that Redgate struggles with are well known and are fixable, but it seems that the company actively avoids fixing them. Attrition is known as one of the largest issues facing the company and leadership understands where it comes from - pay that is not competitive, poor sales leadership, and all of the pain with trying to manage US operations from the UK HQ. There are zero plans in place to address any of these concerns. Why poll your people quarterly only to do nothing with the results? Why present any of this data on a quarterly basis only to not act on any of the talking points?
