Pros

Co-workers were great people, liked my supervisor, and decent benefits.

Cons

Long hours, understaffed, lunch and breaks under emphasized and sometimes non existent, micromanaging senior leader and poor communication.

Pros

Renown offers flexible schedules and is in an amazing location for the outdoor enthusiast. I have had great co-workers in all the areas I have worked. Reno is an interesting place and you'll therefore have interesting clients. The pace is varied and depends on the time of year. Though there are some repetitive aspects to the work it is generally fresh and there's always something new to learn.

Cons

Management can be less than supportive in many instances and grievances can be touchy to file as one might be accused of lying. We definitely don't have the supplies we need at our fingertips sometimes and other departments are generally as short-staffed as you are thus creating a lot of waiting.

Pros

The uniform stipend is nice, pay is comparable to other hospitals in area, Epic charting system

Cons

Unsafe ratios and double occupancy rooms even in traditionally well-protected populations such as Pediatrics, whole hospital is staffed by new grads leading to poor outcomes, Renown is starting to decrease pay for per diem and drop incentives (despite inadequate staffing at all times), poor management, deceptive "employee engagement" data collection practices (directly after every survey closes they make terrible quality of living changes), feedback given to management goes nowhere, no extra pay for BSN, PACE (RN bonus program to encourage further career development) is being made harder to obtain, no ability to drive change as a nurse, Renown does whatever it wants to its staff because it can, very poor food options for night shift, almost impossible to get into childcare center, very punitive/toxic culture
