Pros

- The company has the feel of a Silicon Valley startup, in that people are engaged with their work; - The company has received enough funding to be stable and run like a "professional" business; - The compay is more "mature" than some other startups (there is an air hockey table and dogs are welcome at work, but the company feels like a real business); - If you speak up, your growth potential is unlimited; - Pet-friendly, fun workspace; - Interesting combination of engineering, social networking, journalism, and other fields; - Great diverse workforce that brings unique perspectives to problems; - Equity potential.

Cons

- If you don't speak up with your ideas and feedback, it will be tough to advance -- everyone is too busy to stop and ask you, but they listen if you tell them; - Priorities sometimes shift, so you need to be flexible in your work; people are often assigned to different roles as the company grows; - High standards can be demanding; this isn't a job you can "phone-in".

Pros

Working at Reputation.com for just under a year -- I moved to the bay area with my wife last summer and have had a blast so far. The company is working on some VERY ambitious products in the "data vault" space and, if all works as we're planning, could have a dramatic impact on a lot of peoples' lives. It's exciting to be working on things that can affect so many people, and I get jazzed thinking about it. Part of the fun of working here.

Cons

There's been some drama in LBC with senior management changes and obviously that creates some uncertainty. But on the whole I think they were necessary, and I'm confident we're heading in the right direction.

Startup getting past growing pains

Pros

Energetic office filled with people who believe in the mission of the company and want to see it succeed. We got to solve new and interesting problems in an entrepreneurial way. I also received good equity-based compensation on top of a competitive salary.

Cons

I was at the company during some startup growing pains. People were being challenged to accept new roles and responsibilities that they weren't always ready for. The company was good about support (especially if you seek it out from some of the managers who have been there for a while) but some employees were unhappy about the constantly expanding responsibilities. I understand that things are becoming more stable, but any growth startup will always challenge people to grow; I personally enjoyed being to expand my career and try new things.
